For over twenty years Mike has been performing his music from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest. Born and raised in Southern California, Mike performed in various rock, blues, and country bands before settling in with the Gayle and Company Band, a folk/rock staple in Southern California’s Inland Empire area.
After thirteen musically prolific and enjoyable years with the Gayle and Company Band, Mike and his wife Shawn moved to Sisters, Oregon for a quality of life change for their two sons. After retiring from the F.A.A as an air traffic controller, Mike arrived in Oregon in 2006 and his musical endeavors continued with more emphasis on his solo performances. His songs reflect everyday life through his personal experiences and observations, often displaying his use of wordplay and dry sense of humor. His live performances have been described as “sometimes laugh-out-loud funny to sometimes deeply touching.”
In addition to his solo performances, Mike is a member of the Anvil Blasters, an Americana band with a dynamic live show and an ever-increasing Central Oregon fan base. He shares the Anvil Blasters songwriting duties with bandmate Jim Cornelius. He also is a member of the up and coming country band Dry Canyon Stampede, lending their blend of country favorites, both new and not so new, to a continually growing fan base.
Mike has performed at such venues as the Sisters Folk Festival, Wickenburg, AZ . Bluegrass Festival, Gramfest, (a tribute festival to Gram Parsons), Fossil, OR. Bluegrass Festival, and has had the good fortune to open shows for such artists as Tracy Grammer, Diane Zeigler, folk legend Don Edwards, country artist Blaine Larsen, bluegrass greats the Witcher Brothers, and Eilen Jewel.
Mike now resides in Sisters, Oregon with his wife Shawn and their sons Billy and Artem. They have two adult daughters, Briana and Jessica.
